Skullcandy Intros New Headsets at CES

LAS VEGAS -- Skullcandy turned its headphones up to 11 at CES with the introduction of the Mix Master Mike and Aviator headphones.

The Mix Master Mike DJ-style headphones were developed in close cooperation with the Beastie Boys' Mix Master Mike. "Mix Master Mike was involved in the design process from the beginning, and he'll be using these on tour," Skullcandy's Lindsey Groepper told The Mac Observer.

The stereo headphones include an ambidextrious audio input so users can switch the cable from the left ear to their right ear, a built-in mute control, a coil cable with a 90 degree angle plug and a traditional straight cable and plug, and can be folded and stored in the included carry bag. The headphones also include articulated earphones that rotate 90 degrees away from your face and auto-switch the audio from stereo to mono so DJ's can listen to the crowd and their mix at the same time.

The Aviator headphones take their styling from aviator-style aviator sun glasses. They sport the same tear drop shape for the ear cups, wire framing and glossy look.

The headphones include a tangle-free cable, inline volume controls, and polished polycabonate ear cup covers. Like the Mix Mater Mike headphones, the Aviator folds up and fits in the included carrying case. The Aviator was designed for music fans that enjoy heavy bass, but don't want to lose the mid and high tones in their music.

"We want to offer the best audio quality at a lower price," Ms. Groepper said.

The Mix Master Mike DJ headphones will be available in the spring. The Aviator will be available in the spring as well in smoke, white and brown.
