Stephen Colbert Brings an iPad to the Grammys

Comedian and The Colbert Report host, Stephen Colbert, caught the eyes of tech fans on Sunday night when he pulled an Apple iPad out of his pocket while hosting the Grammy Awards, making this the first time an iPad has been seen outside of Apple's introduction event on January 27.

The iPad shows up at the Grammys

Mr. Colbert acts like he can't find an award nominee list and the says "Oh, I know. It's on my iPad," as he pulls an iPad from his coat pocket.

Apple introduced the iPad at a special media event on January 27 in San Francisco. The iPad is an iPhone OS-based tablet device with a 9.7-inch multitouch display, support for music and movie playback, a built-in ebook reader, support for running most of the applications that are available at the App Store, Bluetooth keyboard support, and more.

Getting an iPad into the hands of Stephen Colbert and in front of Grammy Awards viewers two months ahead of the product's launch could possibly mark the beginning of a high-visibility marketing scheme, which means we might get more public iPad sightings ahead of the official release. For some, the iPad sighting was the high point of the Grammys event, but apparently some musicians were given awards, too.
