Symply, Inc Unveils Desktop RAID Systems: SymplyStor and SymplyShare

Symply, Inc., a new startup in high-performance storage for media and creative professionals, has unveiled its first product series, SymplyStor desktop RAID and SymplyShare for Thunderbolt and IP-connected workgroups. Packed into a cylinder, reminiscent of Apple's Mac Pro, the entry level SymplyStor supports Thunderbolt 2 and 3, has a capacity of up to 64 TB, and can be managed with OS X, Windows, iOS for iPhone and iPad, and even watchOS.

When a single SymplyStor unit is docked in a SymplyShare base, SymplyStor operates seamlessly with SymplyStor Expansion managed as a single RAID, up to a 120 TB capacity and provides ‘plug-and-go’ collaboration for up to 8 users on IP connected networks.

“Symply products are really designed for creative professionals,” explained Alex Grossman, CEO of Symply, Inc. Production is hard enough – storage really shouldn’t be.”

Notable in the design is that the SymplyStor is powered by StorNext 5 and is 100 percent Xsan compatible. A simple 5-step setup process leads to intuitive monitoring apps native on OS X, Windows, on iOS for iPhone and iPad, and even watchOS.

All major RAID levels are supported and conventional hard disks can be mixed with SSDs initially and/or as drives need replacement.

Pricing and Availability

SymplyStor desktop RAID is being demonstrated live at NAB Show 2016 in Booth #SL9321 and will be available for immediate pre-order starting at US$1999. SymplyStor is expected to ship July 2016.
