TOM BIHN, Waterfield Designs Release 17" Unibody MacBook Pro Notebook Cases

Accessory designer TOM BIHN on Thursday announced no less than nine new backpacks, messenger bags and briefcases for Apple's 17" unibody MacBook Pro notebook, including the Checkpoint Flyer, the Size 1 Brain Cell, Super Ego, and more.

The Checkpoint Flyer is designed to allow users to send their notebook bag through an airport x-ray machine without worrying about damage to the computer inside. The bag is made from 8mm-thick thermo-molded closed cell foam that surrounds the laptop and protects against bumps and scratches but not water.

Other bags include the Size 1 Brain Cell, a notebook case made with 8mm-thick soft foam padding and a 12mm-thick strip of memory foam inside a 4mm hard plastic shell which protects the laptop on all sides. For full protection, users must carry the case in a horizontal format.

For users who need to carry additional items, the Super Ego messenger bag features an interchangeable strip of fabric on the front flap as well as three shoulder straps to choose from. The bag contains light padding for additional protection.

Waterfield Designs, another accessory manufacturer, has also announced its 17-3 SleeveCase, a case cushioned with high-grade neoprene and wrapped in a ballistic nylon shell. The case provides both horizontal and vertical carrying options as well as a piggyback accessory pouch.
