LithiumCorp has dropped the price on its Tweed app for the iPad from US$4.99 to free as of Tuesday. Tweed builds RSS-like lists of Tweets with links, but doesn’t require users to have a Twitter account.
Tweed for the iPad, now free
Tweed includes the ability to build customized tweet lists without needing an RSS reader app, a history list showing the links you have checked out, an in-app article viewer, support for tagging tweets to be read later, and Instapaper support. The app includes several pre-built lists for Apple-related news, technology, world news, and more.
James Wilson, Tweed’s developer, already has plans for Tweed 2.0.
“The plans for Tweed 2.0 make extension use of the new features in iOS 5, Lion and iCloud and will go a long way to delivering on that vision. One feature that I’m particularly excited about is a keyword-based feature for finding related content,” he said in a blog post. “Say you’re looking at an article and want to view more about the same topic, then Tweed will help you find related content based on the keywords in the article.”
Tweed is available as a free download at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
