WoodWing Software announced Monday an update for Smart Styles, the company's formatting tool for repetitive formatting tasks of text, frames, and objects in InDesign and InCopy. The new version adds support for the latest versions of those two apps from Adobe's CreativeSuite 4 (CS4) release.
According to the company, users of Smart Styles simply drag a styled object into a Smart Styles library, after which Smart Styles intelligently analyzes its formatting. Page designers can then drag this Smart Style object out of the library and onto another page element to apply the same formatting. This removes the need for designers to manually apply repetitive styling.
Smart Styles also allows users to add spreadsheet functionality directly into InDesign and InCopy by inserting formulas into tables, which can then be sorted according to several criteria.
You can find more information on Smart Styles at WoodWing's Web site, where you can also download a 30-day trial version of the product. The full version is priced at US$199.
