iPad mini goes on pre-order on Friday, but remember that there's the iPad 2, too. Apple is currently offering a refurbished 64GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G for $579 (for Verizon). There's a white one (same specs, also for Verizon) available, too. That compares to the smaller iPad mini with the same capacity and resolution at $659 and $829 for the higher resolution iPad with Retina Display.
