Although there are a lot of iPad cases from which to choose, very few are made from real leather, and those that are, are fairly expensive. The Code Folio case from Hex offers a real leather case in red, black, or brown for an MSRP of US$79.95.

In addition to the case covering, the inside of the case features a custom molded, soft-touch bed that fits both the new iPad and the iPad 2. It also has interior pockets that hold cards, papers, note pads and other miscellaneous documents. There are three sets of grooves built into the inside of case that allow the iPad to be held stable in a horizontal mode. (See the photo below.) The case includes a black stretch band that holds the case closed when not in use. The Code Folio case measures 9.75 x 0.65 x 7.75-in.

Using the product
The Code Folio case is very attractive in an understated way. The colors are rich, and the outside stitching is very high quality. The molded bed that holds the iPad holds it snugly, at the same time it is easy to insert and remove the iPad. The packaging includes exact instructions on how to do this correctly. The openings for ports, the camera and sound are more than adequate, and I was able to recharge my iPad without removing it from the case.
The pockets for cards, notes, and other miscellaneous items, along with the elastic band that holds a stylus or pen, are a nice touch for anyone who uses an iPad in a business or school setting. Shown in the image below, I have inserted an AluPen Pro which is a pen on one end and a stylus on the other.

This case does not have a magnetic close function, with wake and sleep features, because of the addition of the pockets. Such a feature would not work correctly if the user added much to the pockets.
Do I recommend it?
I do. This is a very classy case with features that should appeal to anyone who uses an iPad throughout the day away from their place of work. It’s well made, will protect your iPad and the real leather cover is an added bonus.
