We welcome a new Business Member to Team Mac Observer, our SETI@home team. Homewine.com has signed up, and better yet, they brought more than 200 completed work units to the Team! Homewine.com is dedicated to people who like to make wine in their homes. For those who need more information on SETI@home, read all about it. If you want your company logo on our site, just sign up two or more computers with Team Mac Observer and let us know.

Overall, the Team has grown to 344 members and we are a hair's breadth from jumping from the #22 to #21 in the Top 100 Club Teams! We should be passing that team this weekend. Congrats to everyone who has participated!

Our Team continues to get even faster. Our Team average is now 16 hr 47 min 49.8 sec per work unit, much faster than any of the PC based teams we have seen, and the fastest Mac-based team in the Top 100 Club Teams. In addition, our Top 10 Fastest Averages have gotten almost out of hand. We have 3 people averaging in the 7 hour range, 4 people in the 8 hour range, 2 in the 9 hour range, and Sir Furikake heads up this category with his 6 hour average on MacOS X Server. Do keep in mind that this is only from the Top 100 members which is the only data we have access to. There are several newer members heading up to the Top 100 members, and their times are also fast.

The Team has also contributed over 80 years of CPU time! This is simply fantastic. The entire SETI@home project has racked up over 100,000 years of CPU time! This is unprecedented in the world, and that's part of what makes this project so fun to work with.

So that brings us to our call for YOU to join. We Need You. It is very easy to sign up, we have all the instructions for you. It's fun, and you get to help show the world how much the Mac kicks butt. The Mac platform has a much faster average than the Windows platform, a fact that no doubt chaps the hide of many a die-hard PC nut. Of course, they have many times the total number of work units completed we do. So Sign Up!
