Team Mac Observer Reaches Top 20 SETI@home Club Teams!
Team Mac Observer, our SETI@home team, has passed another milestone. We have passed the 20,000 work unit mark and are now in the Top 20 Club Teams! Better yet, we are only a few hundred work units away from #19, so our upward progression is nowhere near over. If you need more information on the SETI@home project, read all about it.

Of further note, we now have 4 team members who have donated ion access of 1 year of total CPU time. NGI, Senton Inc., Anaconda, and NGC1277 have all crossed the 1 year mark, while Anaconda has passed the 2 year mark! Congratulations and thanks!

The Mac Platform continues to show its strength in the overall standings for the project. The Mac is strongly in the #2 position for most work units completed with 1,885,493 work units turned in. Our nearest competitor is sparc-sun-solaris2.6 with 1,468,313 work units turned in, a cool 400,000 behind. In the #1 spot is the Windows platform with 13,937,924 work units completed, stomping everyone else in sheer volume.

The Windows platform has also gotten a little faster with the last update to the SETI@home client and is now averaging 33 hr 51 min 48.2 sec per work unit. That's ok though, because the Mac platform has also sped up and is averaging 22 hr 06 min 39.4 sec per work unit. Team Mac Observer, a very fast team indeed, is averaging 17 hr 26 min 40.3 sec per work unit.

We sure could use some help though. There are now three Mac teams in the Top 20 Club Teams, but we would like to make it 3 in the Top 10! You could help show the world that the Mac platform rocks by joining Team Mac Observer. It is very easy, we have all the directions you might need.
