In the northern hemisphere, at least. Yes, the Earth is farthest from the Sun, in its slightly elliptical orbit, in the northern hemisphere summer. And so it’s natural to ask why summer gets so warm. Ah that brings back memories. The Season’s Show at the Planetarium. (To continue the discussion from yesterday). With the planetarium and a roll of tape I could make any kid from First Grade on up understand how the seasons worked, and why it was summer here when it was winter south of the equator.
