Anatomy of an Exploding Battery

· by · News

Most of us are lucky enough to never have experienced an exploding laptop first hand. This video clearly illustrates just how dangerous a defective battery can be.

Gizmodo found a demonstration video showing a laptop battery cascading from failure to fire reaching temperatures near 1,000 degrees. The battery in this video was modified to simulate one of the lithium-ion units in Sonyis massive recall that includes batteries from Apple, Dell, Toshiba, and other laptops.

An exploding laptop battery.

Donit try this at home, kids. The heat and toxic gases from the burning battery are extremely dangerous.
