Apple 802.11n Enabler Available

The Apple Store online started offering the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac on Tuesday. The enabler allows Intel Core 2 Duo Macs to take advantage of 802.11n wireless networking with devices like the new AirPort Extreme Base Station and other 802.11n-compatible products.


Appleis 802.11n Enabler

This enabler is necessary only for users that intend to use their Mac on an 802.11n network and want to take advantage of the faster connection speeds this protocol offers. Compatible Macs include:

  • MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo
  • MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme option
  • iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (except the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac)

The enabler application is included with the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station, or costs US$1.99 as a stand-alone installer from the Apple Store.
