Apple Drops Five-Star Self-Ratings

· by Brad Gibson · News

Apple Computer has dropped the automatic five-star ratings of its own products on the US Apple Online Store, The Mac Observer has learned. Macs, iPods and other Apple-made products are now displayed without a rating.

In the Frequently Asked Questions area of the site, language has been changed and no longer includes the sentence, "We give all Apple products a rating of "5 Apples" because we think theyire great."

Ratings were introduced on November 4 when it instituted an online store re-design and introduced a separate iPod section. Consumers can still rate third-party products.
