Apple Market Share Explodes in December

· by · News

Apple market share zoomed from 6.8 percent in November to 7.31 percent in December 2007. However, in the last two days of December it rose to 8.01 percent according to Net Applications on Wednesday.

The market share is measured by browser activity at sites across the Net Applications network. The rise from November represents an 18 percent increase in market share in about a month.

Net Applications noted that those sites getting hits from the iPhone has also risen dramatically, from 0.09 percent in November to 0.17 percent in December.

"Another interesting aspect of this data is that these [Mac] numbers do not include visitors using Windows on Mac hardware via Boot Camp or other program. Therefore, these numbers actually understate the market share for the Mac. We have no way of telling by how much, however," Net Applications reported. Their market share methodology is explained on the home page.
