Apple Releases Xserve RAID Admin Tools

Apple Computerhas released new administration software for Xserve RAID.

Xserve RAID Admin Tools 1.3.1 is a 5MB download from Appleis Web site that fixes a number of issues "improving overall reliability," the company said.

RAID Admin is the Xserve RAIDis remote management software that simplifies setup and monitoring of storage volumes. The Java-based application provides an intuitive interface for creating protected storage volumes, logging events, managing preferences, and monitoring storage hardware from virtually any networked computer over TCP/IP.

Enhancements include, a metadata update fix, assigning LUN IDis consecutively for RAID sets and slices, the use of "All On" button in LUN Masking panel now works correctly a fix where slice information was not saved to metadata and the addition of iRepair LUN Mapi functionality to assign LUN IDis to slices after replacing a controller module.

Apple said the versions of RAID Admin and firmware in this release should replace all earlier versions. The new update works on all Macintosh computers running Mac OS X version 10.2.8 or later.
