Apple Unveils New SAS RAID Card for Xserve

Along with the new Mac Pro RAID card, Apple introduced an SAS and SATA-compatible RAID card for the Xserve on Wednesday. The card manages up to three drives, and replaces the built-in SATA/SAS controller card.

The Xserve RAID card supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and JBOD, includes a 256MB cache, and a 72-hour battery backup for the cache. It connects to the Xserveis three internal drive bays, and supports up to 318MB/s data transfer speeds.

The Xserve SATA/SAS RAID card is priced at US$999, and available as a built-to-order option at the Apple Store Web site.
