Apple and Orange Launch Broadband Service in France

European communications company Orange and Apple Computer have struck a deal to offer French consumers a MacBook and broadband Internet access for a monthly fee. According to vnunet.com, the service will cost ?60 (about US$78.56) a month with a three year commitment.

The service works out to ?2 (about $2.62) a day for a 1Mbps connection. An 8Mbps connection will cost ?65 (about $85.10).

For now, the service is available only in France, but it may extend to other European countries if there is enough interest.
