Blackmagic Design on Thursday released a software update to its Multibridge Extreme bi-directional video converter, adding support for 30-inch displays and enabling hardware HD to SD down-conversion. In addition, this update lets video editors and compositors scale HD 1920 x 1080 images up to 2500 x 1600 to fill the larger real estate now allowed by the software.
The hardware HD to SD down-conversion capability features anamorphic 16:9, letterbox 16:9 and center cut 4:3 modes, broadcast quality polyphase interpolation, simultaneous HD and SD outputs that are also selectable on analog outputs, and the ability to use down-conversion in PCI-Express Capture or Converter mode.
