Blackmagic Releases Beta Version Of DeckLink With HD Support

Blackmagic Design has released a beta version of DeckLink 4.2. The Blackmagic DeckLink is a PCI capture card designed for connecting broadcast video decks in an editing environment. The beta release adds high definition support to the DeckLink driver for HD down conversion. According to Blackmagic Design:

Today Blackmagic Design Pty. Ltd. announced the immediate availability of DeckLink v4.2 public beta, which is a major software update for the entire DeckLink product range with major enhancements to HDTV capabilities.

New features in DeckLink v4.2 include a real time HDTV to standard definition down conversion and the worlds first HDTV real time effects on a HD QuickTime video card.

In addition, all standard definition DeckLink models are compatible with the new HDTV down converter, and can now play back HDTV video out to NTSC or PAL standard definition video in real time.
