Extensis announced Portfolio 8, the latest version of its digital asset management system, at the PhotoPlus Expo on Thursday. The product line includes a standalone version, client/server version, and NetPublish and SQL connection modules.

Version 8 includes support for custom sorting, and remembers the individual settings for each user, Scratchpad Galleries for building temporary image collections, Public/Private Galleries so that users can build image galleries that arenit visible to other users, and enhanced NetPublishing allowing for subsets of catalogs to be published to a web site.

New database features include Fast Cataloging, letting users work with files while they are being cataloged, improved AutoSync and FolderSync adding more options for monitoring watched folders, and improved metadata support.

Portfolio 8 will be available in December, and retails for US$199.95 for the single user version with upgrades from version 6 and 7 at $99.95, and starts at $5,000 for the client/server version.
