Fastmac Announces Blu-ray Drive Upgrade for the Mac

Fastmac introduced its Blu-ray optical drive upgrade for the Mac on Friday. The slim-line slot loading drive is compatible with the PowerBook G3 (Pismo), PowerBook G4, iBook G4, 17-inch MacBook Pro, iMac G5 and Intel iMac, and Mac mini. It supports reading, writing and re-writing to single and dual layer Blu-ray media, writes to DVD-R and DVD+R media at 8x speed in single layer and 2x speed in dual and double layer mode, rewrites to DVD-R and DVD+R media, reads and writes DVD-RAM reading and writing at 5x speeds, and burns CD-R and CD-RW discs at 8x speeds.


Fastmacis Blu-ray drive upgrade for the Mac

The Fastmac drive requires Roxio Toast Titanium 8 for Blu-ray support. Fastmacis Blu-ray drive is priced at US$799, and is available for pre-order now. It will be shipping before the end of April.
