British software company Multidmedia Ltd. on Monday released Zinc 2.5, an update to its Macromedia Flash development environment that adds more than 800 commands to Flash ActionScript and introduces a new scripting API called {mdm}Script 2.0.
Other changes include full compatibility with Flash 8 and the ability to execute synchrononous code on Mac OS X and Windows. In addition, Zinc 2.5 on Mac OS X is available as a plug-in for Zinc 2 on Windows or as a standalone application; the former enables Windows users to produce Mac OS X Flash projectors.
Multidmedia did not say if this is a free update for Zinc 2 owners. The full software sells for US$299.99 for a single license on either Mac or Windows, or $499.99 for licenses on both operating systems.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.x, Flash 6 or higher, a 300MHz G3 processor, 128MB RAM and 150MB free hard drive space.
