· by Mike Washlesky · News

The Babel Company has released a new beta release of Impression version 2.6. Impression is a utility designed for the secure backup of optical disc directories. The beta release features improved archiving and various bug fixes. According to The Babel Company:

Impressionis 2.6 beta release offers a substantial update to the backup application for OS X. This revision provides a new hfspax-based restorable archive format which improves archiving and restoration speeds most noticeably. In addition, this new version offers full Unicode support for all catalog, log and session files. Asian and other Unicode-based filepaths are now easily processed and preserved by Impressionis backup and restore engines.

And notably - all reported, reproducible bugs have been taken care of for this release, which gets to the heart of the reason for offering this public beta.

You can find more information about the Impression beta release at The Babel Company Web site. The Impression update is free for registered users, while the full version is available for US$20.00.
