Network Monitoring Tool Updated

Black Cat Systems has updated their network examination and monitoring utility, Network Toolbox, to version 0.3.0. Network Toolbox allows users to take a closer look at the network functions of their computer and associated networks. According to Black Cat Systems:

Black Cat Systems (http://www.blackcatsystems.com) has released version 0.3.0 of Network Toolbox, a freeware tool to examine both the network settings and operation on your Mac, and your local area network.

Network Toolbox provides the following information and features:

  • OT Status - Status of Open Transport on your machine
  • Network Interfaces - List of interfaces configured on your machine
  • TCP Status - View open TCP connections on your machine
  • UDP Status - View open UDP connections on your machine
  • Network Addresses - Examine machines on your LAN
  • Port Scans - Both UDP and TCP - look for security holes on your LAN
  • DNS Lookup - Perform Domain Name Service lookups
  • Ping - Verify and time connections to machines on the internet, IMCP and UDP
  • Trace Route - Verify and time routes to machines on the internet
  • ARP Cache - Address Resolution Protocol, maps IP to ethernet (MAC) address
  • Route Status Report - Open Transport routing information
  • Appletalk Status - Information about Appletalk in your machine
  • Appletalk Names List - List of names on the Appletalk network
