OWC Introduces 802.11n Wi-Fi Upgrades For All Macs

Otherworld Computing announced on Thursday the immediate availability of 802.11n Wi-Fi upgrades for all Macs (and PCs) via USB, Cardbus or PCI card slots.

These new 802.11n Wi-Fi Adapters offered by OWC provide backwards compatibility for use on 802.11b and 802.11g networks. With 802.11n, indoor ranges of up to 220 feet (outdoor up to 500 feet) and performance of up to 300 Mbps are possible -- or up to 5 times the range and performance of 802.11g.

The 802.11n Wi-Fi Adapters are fully tested and supported by OWC to work with any G3, G4, G5, or Intel processor-based Mac or PC that has PCI, USB, or Cardbus. Mac OS X 10.3 and Windows XP or later are supported.

The USB, Cardbus, and PCI slot versions of the adapter are all priced at US$67.99.

Note: Macs that currently ship 802.11n ready are: Mac Pro Quad/8-Way Tower, MacBook/MacBook Pro and iMac models with a Core 2 Duo processor.
