Intuit on Wednesday introduced QuickBooks: Pro 2006 for Mac, which the company will ship later this month. This upgrade to the accounting software features support for Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger," online payroll management and contact synchronization between the software and Mac OS X Address Book, iSync 2.1-compatible cell phones and PDAs and other applications and devices that support Sync Services.
Other changes include the ability to import bank and credit card transactions and improvements to data sharing with Windows users who are running the latest versions of QuickBooks, QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Premier: Accountant Edition 2006.
There are no separate full and upgrade versions of QuickBooks: Pro 2006, which sells for US$199.95. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or v10.4.2, a G3 processor, 128MB RAM and 100MB free hard drive space. Users who want to integrate QuickBooks with Microsoft Excel need Excel X or 2004; those who want to e-mail from within the software need Apple Mail 1.3.1 or 2.0.2, Microsoft Entourage X or 2004 or Eudora 6.2.3.
