SanDisk Announces Three New Flash-Based Music Players

SanDisk Corp. announced Tuesday a new line of portable digital music players available in 256 megabyte, 512MB and 1 gigabyte capacities starting at US$99.99

The players support Windows Media file and Windows Media-based Digital Rights Management (DRM) music files. Despite the suport of WMA, MP3 files also can be stored and played through the device for Macintosh users.

The red-colored 256MB model can store 60 songs in MP3 format with four hours of playback time and 120 songs in WMA format for eight hours of playback time on a single AAA battery. It retails for $99.99.

The blue-colored 512MB model (see photo below) can store 120 songs in MP3 format with eight hours of playback time and 240 songs in WMA format for 16 hours of playback time on a single AAA battery. It retails for $149.99

The silver-colored 1GB model can store 240 songs in MP3 format with 16hours of playback time and 480 songs in WMA format for 32 hours of playback time on a single AAA battery. It retails for $199.99.

The players feature a USB 2.0 interface, a digital FM radio with 20 station presets stations, and a four-line backlit LCD panel that displays artist and title names.
