Some Good News?  Apple.com Climbs To Number Two This Week

After an all around rough week for the computer maker from Cupertino, Apple got some good news when this weekis PC Data Top 10 rankings were released. Apple climbed from number 5 last week to number 2 this week, with almost 1.5 million visitors to the Apple web site. After a week away from the top spot, Compaq recaptured the lead with just 7,000 more visitors than Apple. The turmoil that the entire computer industry is in was largely reflected in the PC Data Rankings, as sites swapped spots throughout the list. Dell, HP, Gateway, IBM, 3Com, and Intel all stayed in the Top 10, with Gateway the weekis biggest loser dropping from number 1 last week to number 5 this week. Computer resellers Egghead and Outpost continued to hold strong in the Top 10, with Egghead clearly benefitting from holiday shopping traffic by drawing over 1 million visitors to their site. There were no newcomers in this weeks Top 10 rankings.
