Ideas From the Deep and SquidSoft have released an update for SquidCam, bringing it to version 1.4. SquidCam is a video conferencing app desiged as an alternative to service based conferencing. The update features a"Frag Video" option for low end connections. According to Ideas From the Deep and SquidSoft:

Ideas From the Deep and SquidSoft today released SquidCam v1.4.

SquidCam is a video and audio conferencing application for Mac OS X enabling you to have a conversation with one or more people using SquidCam over a network (LAN and/or Internet) connection. SquidCam features audio and video connectivity, as well as text messaging and an answering machine, all without the need of a special service.

This update adds a new feature called "Frag Video" which allows lower end connections (ie, modems, ISDN, etc.) to send and receive decent framerates!

Overall video framerates are greatly improved, on a standard cable connection (ie, 128Kbps upstream) v1.4 can send close to 60fps (as compared to 5-12 on previous versions).

This version also greatly reduces CPU and RAM usage, meaning lower end systems will enjoy a better experience with SquidCam sessions.

You can find more information about the SquidCam update at the SquidSoft Web site. SquidCam 1.4 is available for US$25.00.
