Two More Organizations Planning OS X Celebrations

As the excitement surrounding the release of OS X continues to build, people are being offered more and more opportunities to celebrate this weekend. Two more organizations, the Washington Apple Pi user group and the MacMall retail locations are planning festivities based around OS Xis Saturday release. According to the Washington Apple Pi group:

Mac OS X arrives March 24th - and Washington Apple Pi is having a party! "Weire celebrating with an installation party," says WAP President Lorin Evans. Not only will Mac users be able to purchaseOS X from a number of vendors during our Saturday meeting, but volunteers will help install it for you. "The first step," says Evans, "is to make sure your Mac is able to handle OS X." That means going to the WAP web site at www.wap.org to make sure your Mac can run the new operating system. "Weill even have an Apple rep at the meeting to show how to install OS X and answer any questions," says Evans.

The OS X Installation Party starts at 8am at the Northern Virginia Community College Community and Cultural Center, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, Virginia. The Party ends at 1pm. The party itself is free to all, but you will have to purchase OS X.

For those that do not want to wait until 8:00AM, MacMall is throwing a party at Midnight:

he store will open to the public at the stroke of midnight so that Los Angeles-area Mac users may be among the first to purchase Mac OS X AND receive a Limited Edition Mac OS X T-shirt. There will be refreshments and raffles every 15 minutes. Items to be raffled off include products from QPS,Iomega, Castlewood, and assorted Apple Logo merchandise.

MacMallis Director of Apple Business Development and Marketing put it best when he said, "Mac OS X is the most anticipated Mac OS system, this is bigger than Mac OS 7, 8 and 9 put together!

We want to give our customers the opportunity to be the first to have it at exactly 12:01 on March 24th!"
