USB 2.0 Craves Your Attention

· by Mike Washlesky · News

IOGEAR has announced that the average person appears clueless about the next generation of USB, version 2.0. USB 2.0 is designed to be significantly faster than the previous 1.1 version, and is slowly entering the market in various devices. IOGEAR wants to spread the word about the new world of USB 2.0. According to IOGEAR:

USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 appears to be a misunderstood technology, despite the fact that it is greatly improving the performance and speed of hardware devices today.

In a survey of 1,238 visitors at IOGEARis booth during Fall COMDEX 2001, the company discovered 8 out of 10 people do not understand what hi-speed USB 2.0 technology brings to the market. Common responses ranged from a new generation of computer chips to faster cabling technology.

Other respondents believed the technical acronym stood for a second generation Web design tool or a smaller type of computer hub.

With USB 2.0 technology to appear in many 2002 computer peripheral devices and operating systems, users will receive faster data connection rates of up to 480 Mbps, 40 times faster than todayis USB 1.1 technology. This increased speed allows users to benefit from a range of high performance input devices including storage, printers, scanners and digital cameras.

You can find more information about USB 2.0 at the IOGEAR Web site.
