Voting Begins in the Unity Dashboard Widget Challenge

OverTheEdge Entertainment has opened the voting in its Dashboard Widget Challenge. Thirteen games, from the Tetris-like All Around the Wall to the arcade shooter Asteroid Run, are part of the contest. Anyone can download the games, try them out, and vote for their favorite.

Balloting ends Monday, Sept. 5. The contest is broken into three categories: Grand Prix of the Jury, which goes to "the most dazzling, fun, cool and/or useful Widget in the competition;" The Peopleis Love Ballot, which is decided by a visitors who stop by OTTEis Web site and vote for their favorite Widget; and The Project Files of Deep Wisdom, a "prize awarded to the Widget whose project files display the best structure and best-written scripts for others to learn from." The Widgetis project folder must be an open source one to qualify for the third category.

The Grand Prix Prize of the Jury consists of a Unity Pro license and an ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition video card. The developer who earns the peopleis love gets a Unity Indie license and an ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition video card. Finally, a Unity Indie license goes to the Project Files of Deep Wisdom winner. In addition, the best five entries in the third category earn a copy of GooBall, which was developed by OTTE with Unity and which was published through Ambrosia Software.

The runner-up in each category receives an Inside Mac Games Pro subscription while all participants who submit valid Widgets get 15% off the purchase of one Unity license.
