Xcode Adds 64-bit Support, More

Apple quietly updated its Xcode application development tool suite to version 2.4 during the World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Xcode 2.4 includes support for 64-bit Intel application development, and building applications that support 32-bit and 64-bit PowerPC and Intel processors in the smae package (four-architecture Universal applications). It also includes bug fixes for cctools, debugger, compiler, the Xcode IDE, and includes CHUD 4.4.0.

Xcode 2.4 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and is a free download for Apple Developer Connection Members. Apple offers free and paid membership plans at the Developer Connection Web site.

Thanks to TMO reader Laurie Flemming for the heads up.
