app4mac announced the immediate availability of Twin for Mac OS X on Friday. Twin is a data backup application that supports saving data to local drives as well as online locations via several file transfer protocols.

Twin preserves Finder information, ACLs, privileges and resource forks when backing up data, lets users schedule backup times, set which files to include, can segment large files for easier network transfers, offers network error recovery. It also supports remote backups via FTP, FTPS, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, and MobileMe, supports AES-256 encryption, can use bz2 compression, and more.

Twin 1.0 is priced at €29 (about US$38.38), and is available for download at the app4mac Web site.
