Apple: 3 Million iPod touches Sold

San Jose -- Apple announced that it has already sold 3 million of the new fifth generation iPod touch on Tuesday during its special media event in San Jose, California. The new model started shipping on October 9 after being introduced on September 12.

The new iPod touch includes a 4-inch Retina Display like the iPhone 5, sports the new Lightning dock connector, is thinner than the fourth generation model, offers better performance thanks to its A5 processor, and is available in several colors. It's only 6.1mm thick and weighs 88 grams, includes an iSight camera for video chats, a 5 megapixel camera with 1080p HD video support and LED flash, Bluetooth 4.0, dual band 802.11n WiFi, AirPlay mirroring support, and a retractable connector for a wrist strap.

Pricing for the newest iPod touch starts at US$299.
