Apple has teamed up with eBay (again) to offer unlocked certified refurb iPhone models, all priced between US $449 and $499, as first noted by AppleInsider. The store front currently offers several iPhone models.

There's no obvious Apple ties in the eBay storefront, but it bears a strong resemblance to the last time Apple created an eBay outlet, which was for selling refurbished iPads. Each iPhone comes with a full one-year warranty, and they are listed as "exclusive" to the eBay Factory store.

AppleInsider mentioned that the previous trial was a three month pilot program and Apple didn't renew at the time.

I think it's interesting that this is an "Apple store" that shows zero outward signs of being an Apple store. Maybe Apple is making some new deals to get more of their "old" inventory unloaded. It stands to reason that the 5c and 5s will carry forward with the 2014 iPhone, so it makes sense to unload the 5 if its days are numbered.
