Apple announced the new iMacs on October 23rd, but said at the time that they would be delayed until November, while the 27-inch models would be available in December. This being November 30th, the company hit its goal. The company iterated that schedule on November 27th.
The 21.5-inch model comes in two base configurations, a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 for US$1,299, and a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 for $1,499. Both models come with 8GB of RAM and a 1TB drive. The second configuration includes the option of ordering a Fusion Drive, as well.
Apple's 27-inch models start at $1,799 for a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, while $1,999 will buy a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5. Both models include 8GB of RAM and a 1TB drive, and both have the Fusion Drive option, as well.

What about the back, is it also so thin?
Hi Will, we ran a piece about the back bulging in the middle the day the new iMacs were announced. The edge is insanely thin, while the bulge holds all the stuff.
I got a 2-3 week ship time for the BTO 27” when I ordered it around noon EST. Your 3-4 week ship time I am guessing is because they were starting to get back logged on orders.
