Apple Watch Compatible Apps are Already Arriving

With Apple Watch pre-orders still a couple weeks off and then a couple more before we can finally wrap Apple's smartwatch around our wrists, the first iPhone app updates with Apple Watch support are already rolling out. Several apps are touting Apple Watch compatibility, such as Dark Sky, Evernote, and SPG: Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Since Apple Watch apps are companions to iPhone apps, they're showing up as updates to existing titles. For now, that makes finding apps that have been updated with Apple Watch support a little harder to find, but Apple will no doubt make a showcase on the App Store closer to the smartwatch's release to show off the apps the company is already mentioning.

You won't see any changes yet in apps with Apple Watch updates because you need an Apple Watch to take advantage of the new features. Installing the updates now, however, means you'll be ready as soon as your Apple Watch arrives.

Apple Watch will be available for pre-order on April 10, and you can try one on at your local Apple Store on the same day. Apple Watch will ship on April 24. Pricing starts at US$349 for the 38mm Sport model, and tops out at $17,000 for the Rose Golde Edition model.
