Apple Acknowledges Verizon iPad 2 Connectivity Issues

Verizon iPad 2Apple has acknowledged connectivity issues for Verizon iPad 2 models, responding to reports that originated with complaints on Apple’s message boards. Those complaints center on 3G connectivity on Verizon’s network, and not on WiFi connectivity or connectivity on on iPad 2 units on AT&T’s 3G network.

“We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it,” Apple told AllThingsD.

“When I try to connect to the cellular data it just says iPad or Searching in the top of the screen,” nixxon2000 wrote on Apple’s boards. “It did work last night. If I do a hard reset I can get it to work. Switching Airplane mode on and off to reset the modem does NOT work. Anyone have any ideas?”

So far, that thread is six pages long, with many other users chiming in to echo this problem.

While Apple hasn’t specified what it will be doing about the issue, the company is likely to address the issue in a future iOS update.
