After the 25 billionth app was downloaded over the weekend, Apple released lists of the all-time top iPhone and iPad apps, both free and paid. Many of these apps are now household names and cultural phenomenon. Remember whn the iPhone was released and web apps were supposed to suffice?

The list of the most popular apps is available in iTunes. Many of these apps are games or other forms of entertainment. A few free utilities made the iPhone list. And the iPad’s popularity in business is evident in the top paid app list with the mobile iWork apps all making an appearance.
How many of these are currently on your i-device?

I was curious… I have 16 of the iPhone apps and 11 of the iPad apps. How about you?
14 iPhone apps (actually on a 4th gen. iPod Touch)
17 iPad apps (but many of them never get used)
I have zero of the iPhone apps.
I use Yelp.
I use my credit union app.
A lot.
I have 4 of the iPhone apps. Perhaps not being a game player or a social networker has a lot to do with it. ;-(
Of the dozens of apps I’ve downloaded I guess I regularly use 6 or 7 of them.
I don’t have an iPad - I’m tempted by an 11-inch MBA instead.
iPhone (on an iPod Touch)
Have tried 10, still have 2
iPad 2
Have tried 3, still have 1
Mind you I’ve tried many dozens of apps, especially games, just few on the list.
c’est la vie
From that list I have
0 paid apps for the iPhone
3 free apps for the iPhone
2 paid apps for the iPad
4 free apps for the iPad
As with Lancashire-Witch I am not a gamer, but I am on Facebook. I have mostly news, photography, art, writing, and sketching apps.
OK then, how about a corollary to the original question.
What OTHER apps are you using INSTEAD of the ones on this list?
Examples:
I found that I like Crush the Castle and Siege Hero better than Angry Birds.
I use the CBC Radio App rather than CNN.

I’ve yet to try Crush the Castle, but intend to, as I’m a huge Angry Birds fan and the gameplay is similar.
One game I highly, highly recommend—perhaps my favorite ever—is Amazing Breaker. Like AB and CTC, you’re flinging stuff and trying to break other stuff. But this one’s pretty unique: For starters, its played in portrait mode. Also, the targets are multicolored ice sculptures, and they are beautiful. Coolest of all is what you’re flinging: five different kinds of bombs:

Like the different birds in AB, the bombs have different strengths. The coolest thing, though, is bomb-linking: certain types of bombs, if close enough to one another, will form links that act like fuses. If you look closely on the Amazing Breaker page (above), and in the left-side image (with the rose), you’ll see thin green lines linking the green spherical bombs together.
They act like fuses, so if one bomb goes off, the others will detonate in sequence. And the explosion effects (both sight and sound) are top-notch.
The best part of all, though, is how much strategy is involved. In Angry Birds I often find myself wishing I could change the order of the birds. In this game, you can somewhat change the order of the bombs you use by swapping out the bomb in the slingshot for the one “on deck.” There’s also much more velocity control than with Angry Birds.
Highly recommended!
@ Geoduck. Some of my favourite iPhone apps are Pedometer; IMDb; NavFree (Sat.Nav); Vimeo; Kindle (iBooks has poor content in my location); iMovie; Remote.
I also tend to use the Apps that came pre-loaded with the phone - Mail, Safari; Weather; Stocks; Currency.
I second IMDB, Internet Movie Data Base, as one of my favorite apps. Not only does have info about movies and actors, but it has listings and showtimes for local theaters. It is also one of my favorite websites.
I recommend Rhyme for the iPad if you need a rhyming dictionary.
