Apple Rolls Out Printer Updates for Snow Leopard, Lion

Printer DriversAlong with QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard users, Apple released new printer drivers from Snow Leopard and Lion users on Wednesday. The updates for HP, Brother and Samsung printers include support for new printers, along with improved feature support.

HP Printer Drivers v2.7 requires Mac OS X 10.6.1 or newer and includes the latest printing and scanning drivers for printers that are already supported. Apple doesn’t mention Lion support, although there haven’t been any reports of issues after installing the drivers on Apple’s latest Mac operating system.

Brother Printer Drivers v2.7 includes “the latest Brother printing and scanning software for OS X Lion and Mac OS vX 10.6,” according to Apple’s support document.

Samsung Printer Drivers v2.2 added support for several new printer models, and improves support for other models. The driver update requires Snow Leopard or Lion.

All of the updates are available through the Software Update application, or as downloadable installers at the Apple Support Web site.
