Apple TV 4.1 Set for Monday Launch

· by · News

Apple plans to release Apple TV software 4.1 on Monday, adding full AirPlay support to its second generation home media appliance. The update follows the release of iOS 4.2 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, which was also released on Monday.

Apple TV 4.1 includes AirPlay support

AirPlay is a new feature in iOS 4.2 that lets users stream movies and audio to their Apple TV wirelessly via their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

According to Macworld, Apple TV 4.1 will also include VoiceOver support so users can listen to menu options instead of reading them, which is good news for users that are vision impaired. It also includes the ability to read file metadata, so users won’t be limited to hearing only menu options and file names.

Apple TV 4.1 will be available as a free update for second generation Apple TV owners by about 10 AM pacific time.
