Apple TV Software Updated, New iOS 5.0.1 Pushed

· by · News

Apple released an update to its Apple TV software on Thursday. The new release is version 4.4.4, and the company didn’t offer patch notes for the release. Apple also released a new build of iOS 5.0.1 replacing a previous build of the operating system that was originally released in November.

AppleInsider reported that the new build is labeled 9A406, but you won’t find it in iTunes or on your iPhone if you already upgraded to iOS 5.0.1. The build that Apple released in November is labeled 9A405, as seen in the screen shot below. iOS 5.0.1 build 9A405

As with the Apple TV update, Apple didn’t release any patch notes for the new build—if you hadn’t already upgraded to 5.0.1, you’ll get the original update notes in iTunes.

We also know that Apple released iOS 5.1b2 to developers this week, which means that could hit the wild in any week now. Apple typically goes through several developer betas before releasing an iOS update.
