Apple Updates Java for Leopard, Snow Leopard with Security Fixes, More

| Product News

Apple released Thursday Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 1 and Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6. Both patches update Java SE 6 to version 1.6.0_17, and the patch notes offer the usual points about, "reliability, security, and compatibility" for Java SE 6.

The patch notes also point users to the company's Apple Security Updates page for more information on the specific security issues fixed with these patches, but that page has not been updated with these updates as of this writing.

Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 1 is an 82.5MB download through Software Update (we'd appreciate a note from our readers on the download size for Leopard).
