Xeric Design announced the immediate availability of EarthDesk 4.6 on Friday. The update for the animated desktop view of the Earth increased map detail by 25 percent for better quality images at high zoom levels.

EarthDesk displays an auto-updating view of the Earth that includes current sun, moon and city illumination, along with real-time global cloud coverage so users can track hurricanes and other weather systems.

EarthDesk is priced at US$24.95 and is available for download at the Xeric Design Web site. The update is free for version 4 users, or $11.95 for version 2 and 3 users.
