iPhone 5 Due in October, Not September

| Rumor

The rumors claiming Apple is launching the iPhone 5 in September are wrong, assuming the latest rumor saying to look for an October launch are correct. Word of the October release window comes courtesy of AllThingsD and an unnamed source.

iPhone 5 in October nowNew rumor says iPhone 5 lands in October

Sources are vague on when in October the iPhone 5 will be released, but at least some anonymous seem to think it will be later in the month. An October launch doesn’t fit with reports that AT&T is planning on extra in-store staff during the last half of September to handle new iPhone sales.

“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” one source said.

Apple hasn’t commented on when it will release a new iPhone model, or what features it will include. For now, the September — and now October — launch reports should be treated as rumors.

Perfect. I’ll be back in the States by end October. Something to look forward to.

But who knows? I think that crystal ball is a bit opaque. The iPhone 5 (or 4S - we don’t even what to call it) will not ship until it ships.

Picking dates is such a curious sport and possibly just a game some play when they haven’t any real news to discuss.

The real question is what Apple is up to? Is it having problems getting the design right, or does it have something spectacular to thrust upon the scene.

And is anyone else suddenly finding strange sizing problems with TMO’s comment box?

I know this isn’t usually the kind of thing we’d notice, but what if the big ATT push is for some new supercalifragilistic Windows Phone handset?  Maybe there’s one coming in the channel that’s been kept incognito so far and has actual innovation… maybe it’s an Xbox 360 controller or remote too, has MSCloud or some other thing, or can control the dimmer switches in your house and the sprinklers in your yard, on top of all the usual smartphone checkboxes?  And it looks like God’s own Zippo mixed with the lightcycles from TRON Legacy?

I concede that this isn’t terribly likely, but what other possibilities are there really… nobody gives two honks about a new Android handset anymore, no matter the carrier.  So it’s either iPhone 5, or something out of Redmond, I’d think.

It seems to me that often news is fabricated by the media more than created by events. They need to keep viewers and readers riveted because that sells advertising. Not that there isn’t anything wrong with making money, it is the electrons of our culture and must be constant motion for things to happen.

As to what is going on with Apple and getting the iPhone 5 onto the shelves. They are cramming 30 pounds into a 1 pound case and that takes time to get the manufacturing process right. Not to mention supply and software problems.  Dare I quote again from Julius Caesar, it is one of my favorites.

The comment box here. Are you using Safari 5.1, that may have something to do with it. I like to keep the window big enough to see the quoted text and my comments so I often use the resize button in the lower right corner. Sometimes that causes the Send Comment resized button to disappear. If that happens press the down button on your keyboard repeatedly until you reach the end and then enter a carriage return, that should bring back the resize button.

Ross, get thee to the woodshed for thy self-flagilator of preference. Use it smartly for such sacrilege. Though I might be willing to accept that this was a slight slip from your usual lucidity.

Sir H,
Might be 5.1. Should I see about using its dad if I can find it for re-download?  Misread and thought you said left - tried left and it worked. Didn’t know one could resize from both side.
My prob seems to be that the comment box has its right side cut off (no frame) and so either or both sides do not show full text. The prob only reared its head about four posts ago.
And I don’t recognise any quote here from any Shakey play I have read.
I think it is Apple’s old cramming tricks that keeps it so far ahead of the pack.
And here is a great site I came upon, Apple interests and much more:

http://www.minyanville.com/special-features/articles/apple-computers-apple-computer-history-apple/3/22/2011/id/33118

and a quick Job’s quote from the site ?The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything.?

That sounds like it could be a CSS problem, but I am not seeing it.

In the lower right of the comment window, not the page window, are two diagonal lines. If you click on them and drag you can resize the comment window wider and taller.

Thanks Sir Henry.
I still have the prob but found that by increasing size (Command +) seems to override the problem. Then I see the corner you mentioned. Somehow my setting has messed up so will have to spend time fixing. Also have to get this dog in for another repair. It is past warranty but I was told it is a known prob so Apple would continue to fix it.
Now must get to Ron on another page.
Thanks for help.

@mhiki

Under the View menu see if you have Zoom Text Only checked. If not check that item and then zoom out and see if you still have the problem.

mhikl

Checked it but no. Zoom in or out and problem shows. Unchecked and zoom and prob fixed. Will spend some time tonight to tinker with my sizes in Preferences but other than that, can’t see what I might have done differently.
Cheers
