iPhone 5 Rumor Claims Metal Back, No 4-inch Screen

More iPhone 5 rumorsApple’s iPhone 5 hasn’t been announced yet, so the rumor mills are working overtime, and the latest report they’ve churned out says the next iPhone model will have a metal back, and won’t have a larger display.

Word of the iPhone 5’s design comes courtesy of anonymous “upstream panel suppliers,” according to DigiTimes. The sources also said the new iPhone will be thinner and have a thinner bezel that makes the display seem larger.

Rumors have been claiming that Apple planned to bump up the iPhone’s display from 3.5-inches to 4.2-inches, and that the combination iPod and smartphone will include a dual-core A5 processor, and an 8 megapixel camera.

Apple hasn’t said when it will release new iPhone models, or what features the next version will include. Rumors have targeted both September and October for the next iPhone launch, which could coincide with the fall release of iOS 5 and iCloud.

Until Apple announces the next iPhone, feature and launch date reports should all be treated as rumors.
