LEGO Batman: The Videogame to Swing into Action April 9

Feral Interactive on Wednesday announced that LEGO Batman: The Videogame will shop on April 9. Developed by TT Games, who also created LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman lets players assume the roles of not only Batman and his sidekick Robin but also many of the caped crusader's archenemies, including The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler, and more.

The storyline opens with the escape of many criminals from Gotham's Arkham Asylum. As three groups of enemies led by Batman's top foes wreak havoc on the city, players engage them by choosing one of three sets of storylines from the Batcave. Eventually they gain access to Arkham Asylum, where they can play the same levels from the criminals' point-of-view, for a total of 30 levels.

The game features new gameplay elements, including Batman's manually targetable Batarang and costumes that give Batman and Robin additional powers, such as the ability to glide through the air or stick to walls. Vehicles are also available to heroes and villains, including the Batwing, Joker's helicopter, the Batboat, Penguin's submarine, the Batmobile, and Two-Face's armored car.

LEGO Batman sells for US$39.95 and requires Mac OS X version 10.4.10, a 1.8GHz Intel processor, 512MB RAM, 128MB video RAM, and a DVD drive. Feral is currently developing a demo that will be released at a later date.
