Mac Games Arcade 1.0, a new digital download application for Mac games, was released on Friday. The program, which offers access to nearly 400 digital download games, allows users to browse, download, buy and manage their Mac games via an intuitive interface.

In celebration of the program's release, Mac Games Arcade, the company behind the program, is now offering five free games over the next five days with the offer expiring on December 24th, 2008.

"We're entering a new era in Macintosh games with digital downloads," said Tuncer Deniz, founder of Mac Games Arcade. "We're out to prove that, yes, you can play games on your Macintosh! With Mac Games Arcade, we're making it fun and easy to purchase and enjoy games on the Mac."

Per the five free game offer, the first game will be offered on December 19th while another will be offered on December 20th and so on until December 23rd. The first free game, being offered today, is Pangea Software's Pangea Arcade, a collection of three action-arcade games based on classic arcade themes. The other free games will be announced each following day on the Mac Games Arcade web site.

The Mac Games Arcade program is available as a free two megabyte download and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later to install and run.
